I am trying to import media from a Sony HDR-CX760V camera, but FCP X (updated today) can’t ingest the AVCHD clips. It recognizes that an unknown camera is attached, and will not import the movie. Any ideas on how to get the files into FCP X?

Sony HDR-CX760V camcorder is great for us to take high quality images and record vivid full HD videos, Capable of 60p/24p recording and playback via HDMI and compatible HDTV4 provides you stunning clarity and incredibly detailed and smoother playback of your memories.

If you have got the Sony HDR-CX760V and often use it to record 1080P video, you may have the need to edit Sony CX760V AVCHD in Final Cut Pro on Mac, but as the user stated above, FCP X best supported video format is Apple ProRes 422 codec MOV format, so FCP X doesn’t support Sony CX760V AVCHD footages well.

You would be eager to find the reason why FCP X cannot support the AVCHD recordings from CX760V. In fact, you cannot import 60fps or 50fps media into FCP using the camera import function. Plus, the MPEG-4/H.264 encoded AVCHD is not the ideal format for Final Cut Pro. So the best way is to transcode Sony CX760V AVCHD to FCP X best supported Apple RroRes codec, then you can edit smoothly without rendering. You can follow the guide below.

You can get the AVCHD to FCP X Converter to make the AVCHD to FCP X transcoding task without quality loss, which offers you particular profiles for Final Cut Pro including ProRes 422 (HQ), ProRes 422, ProRes 422 (LT), ProRes 422 (Proxy) and ProRes 4444. Step-by-step conversion guide is list as below.

1. Run the top MTS Converter for Mac OS X, and click the "Add" button to download .mts files from your Sony HDR-CX760V camcorder to the application.

2. Click the "Format" option, and tap the Final Cut Pro > “Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)” or “Apple ProRes 422 HQ (*.mov)”, which can bring you best quality video.

3. Adjust video and audio parameters in Profile Setting via clicking Settings on the main interface. 1920*1080 video size, 30fps video bitrate and pcm-s16le audio codec are the favorable settings.

4. Start the Sony 1080p AVCHD .mts to Prores 422 Mac conversion with this professional Mac AVCHD to FCP Converter.

After the conversion, you can get the output files via tapping the Open button. Now, it’s easy for you to import and get Sony CX760V AVCHD files into FCP X on Mac.
